Cathing fire

"Catching Fire" delves into the volatile potential of matches as a medium. These images serve as a symbolic representation of the swift propagation of ideologies or bodies through populations, whether they be political ideologies or viral agents. Within this body of work, I seek to convey the concept of rapid dissemination from a single focal point through a vast network, culminating in complete assimilation or destruction.

Employing safety matches as my creative tools, I construct expansive maps visualizing diverse concepts, such as the spread of viruses or the portraits of ideological figures who reshaped history's course. These drawings possess an inherent danger, capable of igniting and consuming themselves in a single stroke, mirroring the potency of the forces they depict.

Through "Catching Fire," I intertwine technique and concept, using the very nature of matches to mirror the velocity and transformative power of rapid dissemination. Each match map encapsulates the potential for both creation and destruction, a reminder of the precarious balance within systems of rapid expansion.
